South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus Maintains Dilligence In Fight Against COVID-19 Pandemic

September 30, 2021

Message from the Chair, Rep Patricia Henegan

As fall approaches and we enter the final quarter of the year, SCLBC remains committed to our mission, priorities, and objectives. South Carolinians must stay diligent in our fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. I recently held a meeting with state healthcare leaders on what is needed to continue the battle and what is being done in Black and minotiry communities across the state. I expressed to them how important it is that resources are brought to all communities of the state.

I also asked that our hospitals and healthcare providers make accessibility to vaccinations a priority. Although we have recently seen encouraging numbers, state healthcare professionals continue to ask that everyone get the vaccination as soon as possible.

Healthcare professionsl also recommend South Carolinians take the flu (influenza) vaccination shot. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has stated it is safe to get both the COVID-19 vaccine and your flu shot at the same time. I highly recommend you do so. If you would like to view the full meeting, please visit our Facebook page @scblackcaucus. Also, SCLBC joins our Hispanic brothers and sisters and the country in recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month, which started on September 15th. We salute the individual contributions Hispanic Americans have made throughout American history. SCLBC remains committed to fighting injustices and equal treatment of all minority communities within our great state.
