Florence After 5 Returns To Downtown Florence With Hip Pocket

This Friday, June 25, Downtown Florence’s favorite block party returns to the 100 block of S. Dargan Street with live music by fan favorite, Hip Pocket.

Hip Pocket is best known for their fun energy and versatile song list, frequently compared to Band of Oz’s sound from the 1980s and Bill Deal and the Rhondels of the 1970s, both party bands. Enjoy Beach Music, Motown, Soul, Top 40, hot new Country, and party tunes with this high energy six-piece group who are sure to get you moving and help you knock the dust off of this fun downtown event.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome fans of Downtown Florence’s favorite summer concert series back. We’ve been hard at work to make the return of Florence After 5 a reality after a year off,” said Hannah Davis, Downtown Development Manager for the City of Florence. “We’ve got a great lineup for the events we are able to host this year, and we look forward to seeing old friends and welcoming first timers to this fun event.”

Florence After 5 returns after a year off due to COVID-19, celebrating its 11th season. The award-winning event has repeatedly been voted “Best Local Attraction, Best Place to Dance, Best Live Music, Best Outdoor Event, and Best Community Festival” by residents of the Pee Dee. “This event has truly transformed the landscape of Downtown Florence, and has become one that fans look forward to each year. What started as a small event in a dirt parking lot has evolved into a beloved monthly street festival that attracts well over 1,000 attendees regionally.”

CDC guidelines and increased sanitation will be in place for the return of downtown events. Masks are encouraged if social distancing cannot be maintained. MUSC Health Florence Medical Center will offer free COVID-19 vaccines on site.

Admission to Florence After 5 is FREE compliments of Carolina Bank, Victors, MUSC Health Florence Medical Center, Victory Brewing, and monthly concert sponsor Crescent Advisory Partners of Raymond James. Enjoy plenty of food from street vendors, drinks from Pepsi, and cold domestic and craft beer.

From 5:30 until 8:30 p.m., Florence After 5 is held in the 100 block of S. Dargan Street in Downtown Florence and takes place on the last Friday of each month April through October. Attendees are welcome to bring chairs, but outside coolers are not permitted and chairs should not be left unattended.

The band takes the stage at 6:00 p.m. Downtown entertainment doesn’t stop just because the street festival ends. Continue your After 5 fun at the Renaissance Dining Courtyard behind Wholly Smokin’ and Leaf Lounge with live music by Analog Saints.
