Get to know Taylor off the field/mound with the below Q &A:

What has been your greatest moment of playing softball for SC State so far this season?

The greatest moment this year was our first home win, and our first series sweep against Howard. This was a great moment with my teammates and coaches because it took a whole team to win the games not just the players on the field.

What is your gameday routine and what is your gameday hype song?

On home gamedays, I get up and go hit. After I hit, I get breakfast from Chick Fil A and then I come back to my dorm and shower. Most of the time I get up so early that I still have time to lay down. When I get up again, I read my bible and then I get dressed. I do not have a go-to hype song. On my way to get breakfast, I listen to gospel, and then while I get dressed, I listen to calm music.

What has been the greatest lesson you have learned from a coach?

The greatest lesson I have learned from a coach is paying attention to detail. Yes, you got the out or you hit the ball, but did you do the small things right? If you would have paid attention to detail, could you have got two outs or got a better hit? Another lesson a coach taught me is that softball does not define me. Softball is only a portion of my life and no matter if I did not perform well in a game, I am still capable of great things.

Who is your sports idol and if you had the chance would you rather play with them or against them?

My sports idol is my big sister, Jada Ames. She played at Claflin University. She is my idol because she is always working hard, and she uses her time wisely. I want to have the motivation she has because she is an ambitious person. I believe that everything she has in her life and will receive in the future, she deserves it. She is a great example and an inspiration for me. I would play against her because I believe she would challenge me to be better and work harder.

If you could play another sport or position, what sport or position would you play?

If I could play another sport, I would be playing basketball or volleyball. If I played volleyball, I would be an outside hitter. If I played basketball, I would be a small or power forward.
