Kimberly Davis has a passion for nonprofit work. The mother of 3 from Mayesville, SC has been involved in public service for most of her adult life. Davis is the owner of Moms over Matter, a nonprofit geared towards helping mothers navigate motherhood and entrepreneurship, and works for Eastern Carolina Housing Organization. Eastern Carolina Housing Organization was recently awarded Sumter Non-Profit of the Year, where Davis accepted the award on her employer’s behalf.
“Our programs are veteran outreach to include the most strategic and effective way to get veterans into housing across the state,” says Davis. “We work with resource partners in the Pee Dee and Midlands. One of our goals is to not only secure housing but to make it as affordable as possible. Upon placing veterans in housing, we give them housewarming gifts we call housing starter kits to help alleviate the cost associated with a new home. Theses kits include furniture and groceries, just to make sure they start with the necessities so when we back out their future cost are the reoccurring living expenses only.”

Davis says working for Eastern Carolina Housing Organization has helped her learn more about the community and the issues veterans face. As a mom it really touches Kim’s heart to see some of the struggles they face so working on the Launch of Moms over Matter while working in the nonprofit sector has been an awesome experience.
