*Frances Murray Pasley May 21, 1919 - May 5, 2022*

Frances Murray Pasley was born to the late James and Lucia T. Williams Murray on May 21, 1919 in Greeleyville. She exchanged time for eternity on Thursday evening, May 5, 2022.

After graduating from Williamsburg County Training School in Williamsburg County, Frances continued her education at Allen College (Allen University), earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, followed by a Masters’ Degree in English from North Carolina Central College (North Carolina Central University).

Additionally, she furthered her education at various colleges and universities. Frances was a lifelong educator having taught in various schools in Berkeley and Williamsburg Counties – RA Ready Elementary & Middle Schools, Moncks Corner, and Hemingway High in Hemingway.

When her mother became ill, she moved back to Greeleyville to assist with her care; there she taught at Williamsburg County Technical College in Kingstree, then finally transferring to CE Murray High in Greeleyville, where she retired after forty three years of teaching in South Carolina schools.

She was a member Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church in Greeleyville for over 95 years. In 1978, Frances married Orrie Pasley who preceded her in death as have her parents; two sisters, Edna Murray Sherman and Alva Murray Adams, and a nephew, Thomas Oscar Sherman.

Her memories will be cherished by her nieces, Betty P. Sumter of Sumter, Bessie Adams of West Los Angeles, CA, and Joyce Sherman of Roseville, CA; nephews, Stanley Adams of Philadelphia, PA, James (Sybil) Sherman of Lawrenceville, GA, and Bernard (Carolyn) Sherman of Orangeburg, along with a host of grand-nephews and nieces, great-grand nephews and nieces and a great-great-grand niece, cousins and life-long friends.

Funeral services were held 11:00 a. m., Wednesday, May 11, 2022, in the John Wesley Williams, Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Pastor Marion H. Newton, Officiating, the Rev. John Henry Kennedy, Eulogist.

Burial in the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 253 Coleman Road, Greeleyville.

*Nathaniel Jenkins May 22, 1946 - May 4, 2022*

Nathaniel Jenkins, son of the late Solomon Jenkins and Hatttie Myers, was born May 22, 1946, in Hopkins, South Carolina. He departed this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Prisma Health Richland, in Columbia, South Carolina.

“Samuel” or “Nate,” as he was affectionaly called by family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Richland County where he attended Howard School and Booker T. Washington High School.

Nate never met a stranger, he loved telling jokes to his family and friends. He was always ready with a comeback or a quick response.

He retired from the Hardee’s Restaurant Cooperation after more than 40 years of dedicated service. Nate loved to cook for others. His passion was fishing; he called himself the “Master Fisherman.”

Nate joined the Laurel Street Baptist Church at an early age, and was baptised by the late Rev. Richard Ravenell.

In 1965, Nathaniel married the love his life, his beloved Helen Robinson. On last Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022, they celebrated 57 years of love and devotion to each other. It was a blessing!

Mr. Jenkins was also preceded in death by his step-son, Henry Robinson; a brother, Frank Myers, Jr.; and a sister, Elizabeth Myers.

Those who will forever cherish his loving memories are his loving and devoted wife, Helen R. Jenkins of the home; two loving daughters, Mildred “Shelly” (James) Corbett, of Gaston, South Carolina; and Katha “Kat” Jenkins of Columbia, South Carolina; his loving grandchildren, Ministers Rodricous (Tamier) Corbett of Goose Creek, South Carolina; Korie Corbett, Sr., Shakera Corbett, Brande’ Herbert, all of Columbia, South Carolina; and Shaniqua Jenkins of Atlanta, Georgia; four precious great-grandchildren, Korie Corbett, Jr., Zoe Corbett, Daven Corbett and Aubrey Corbett; his caring godsister, Jackie (Freddie) Hudson of Columbia, South Carolina; one brother-in-law, Harry (Mary) Esaw of Columbia, South Carolina; four foster sisters, Claudette (Joe) Geter, Ineatha Glover, Gwen Tucker and Brenda Glover, all of Columbia, South Carolina; a host of nephews, nieces, and other loving relatives and dear frineds, all of whom will dearly miss him.

*Ethel Lee Perry April 21, 1931 - May 4, 2022*

Ethel Lee Perry, the daughter of Frank Roland Ashley and Margaret Ashley Perry, was born April 21, 1931 in Florence, South Carolina. On Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 7:22 a.m., she transitioned from labor to reward.

She was affectionately called “Mother Perry” or “Granny” by her family and friends. She attended the Tans Bay School in Florence County. Her employment was with the Schofield Family of Florence, South Carolina and the Mead Family of New York, New York.

Mother Perry was a member of Shining Light Pentecostal Holiness Church, Darlington, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, David Williams, Jr. and Bishop Joseph Thomas Perry.

Left to cherish precious memories are her beloved sons, Elder Freddie Lee (Sister Valtine) Williams, and Elder David (Sister Stephanie) Williams III, all of Florence, South Carolina; 39 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Mother Perry, you have fought a good fight, you have finished your course, you have kept the faith. You will be greatly missed!

*Ethel Lee (Cross) Dickerson January 12, 1936 - May 9, 2022*

Mother Ethel Lee Cross-Dickerson was 86, and departed this life Monday May 5, 2022 at her home in Marion County. She was the mother of Willie Cross and Fred Dickerson.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel on Saturday May 14, 2022 at 11:00 am. Internment at Jackson & Daughters Cemetery, Marion. Services will be live-streamed on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.

*Shaun Cedric Croskey October 21, 1982 - May 5, 2022*

Shaun Cedric Croskey, was born October 21, 1982, in Sumter to Julia Tention Croskey and the late Edward Eugene Croskey.

Shaun attended the public schools of Sumter County School District.

He enjoyed exploring the outdoor and he loved sports. He was a genuine, caring, giving, and loving person.

He was a very protective brother that would move mountains if he could. He loved to have fun and live his life just like that. He was an all-around person that didn’t bother no one until you bother him.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Demetrius Croskey, nephew, Tyrek Da’Shon Pendergrass, maternal grandparents, Corrine McDuffie Tension and Richard Tension, paternal Maybelle Croskey and Jimmie Croskey, Sr. along with additional family members.

He departed his life on Thursday, May 5, 2022, in Sumter, SC.

His loving memories will be cherished by his mother, Julia Tention Croskey; two sisters, Angela Nicole Croskey and Tamika Nadine Croskey, neice, Zhanique Quintina Croskey; four nephews, Edward Demetrius Croskey Jr, Tre Da’Shon-Eugene Croskey, Shykeim Derrick Smith and Derral D’Aundre Thomas; special friend, Bernay Richardson; eight uncles, six aunts and a host of cousin's other relatives and friends.

*Minister Isabella Smith October 15, 1926 - May 7, 2022*

Minister Isabella Smith was born on October 15, 1926 in Florence County, South Carolina, to the late Lillie Thomas Franks Davis Addison and the late Hesikiah Addison. Her mother died when she was two years old and she was raised by her great grand aunt, the late Sallie Edwards.

Minister Smith was married to the late Deacon Elliott Smith, Sr. To this union, seven children were born. She was a loving wife and mother, caring deeply for her family. Additionally, she loved and cared for children and family members in the community.

Growing up in Florence County, Minister Smith attended the Florence Public School System. Her young life included lots of hard work as a Domestic Technician. Later, she took nursing classes and became a Practical Nurse which allowed her to work as a nurse at Saunders Hospital for most of her life.

At an early age, she accepted Christ. She became a member of New Zion Baptist Church No. 2. and was one of its founding mothers. God called her to preach His word in 1980. This Call led her to attend the Florence Baptist Temple where she studied several Bible courses. Afterwards, she received a license to preach on December 19, 1980. Later in her life, she joined Solid Rock Baptist Church and was one of its founding mothers. She served as an Associate Minister until her health began to decline. She was a woman of prayer. As a very active member with the Order of Eastern Star, she served as Worthy Matron of Pride of West Temple # 301 for many years.

Minister Smith was preceded in death by her parents; Lillie Thomas Franks Davis Addison and Hesikiah Addison; and great grand aunt, Sallie Edwards; her husband, Deacon Elliott Smith, Sr.; two sons, John Smith and Elliott Smith, Jr.; and twelve siblings, Mamie Davis Snowden, Serena Davis Doster, Elouise Davis Wheeler, James Davis Edwards, Charlie Franks, Chalmus Addison, Lillie Bell Addison Shields, Freddie Addison, Dock Addison, Hattie Addison Ford, Queenie Addison and Benjamin Addison.

Those left to cherish her loving memories: two daughters, Queen Esther Bolton (David) of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Annie S. Brown (Arthur) of Lakewood, New Jersey; three sons: Robert L. Smith (Carolyn) of Florence, South Carolina, James M. Smith (Grace) of Camden, South Carolina, and Ronny D. Smith (June) of Florence, South Carolina; thirteen grandchildren, Felicia Jewel Smith Graham of Florence, South Carolina, Vernita Renee Smith Johnson (Tyrone) of Florence, South Carolina, Derrick Moore (Julie) of Lumberton, North Carolina, Adrian Wadell Smith (Davia) of Florence, South Carolina, Keyshia Monique Smith Dubose of Columbia, South Carolina, Annetwan Smith Thompkins of Blacklick, Ohio, Sonya Smith Tucker (Anthony) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Latricia Smith Dukes of Leesburg, Virginia, Byron Smith of Portsmouth, Virginia, Haylee Christine Smith Dixon (Wendell) of Augusta, Georgia, Julian Maxwell Smith of Florence, South Carolina, Marie Engram, of Camden, South Carolina and Gloria MaKeba Manning of Laurinburg, North Carolina; twenty eight great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; nieces, Catherine Wheeler Pilot of Florence, South Carolina; Frances Addison Caldwell of Florence, South Carolina, Norma Gary of Florence, South Carolina, Mildred Shields Adighiuzor of Bronx, New York, Delores Hughes of Bronx, New York; nephews, Edward Addison (Natasha) of Florence, South Carolina; Ernest Addison (Brenda) of Florence, South Carolina, Larry Shields (Ardena) of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, LeRoy Mitchell, Major, United States Army (Retired) (Frances) of Kentucky; a special friend, Deaconess Patsy Lee; and a host of other relatives and friends.
