*Beavers Named CIAA Offensive Player Of The Week; Thomas Named CIAA Pitcher of The Week*

CHARLOTTE, NC - As the Claflin Lady Panthers continue to be dominant in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play, the honors have continued to come in for the Claflin Lady Panthers. Claflin junior Alexandria Beavers was named the CIAA Food Lion Offensive Player of the Week while senior Lady Panthers senior Shaniya Thomas was named the CIAA Food Lion Pitcher of the Week.

Beavers took home the honor after a terrific performance last week. She had a great day at the plate with seven hits in eight at-bats of a doubleheader win at Saint Augustine's. The effort included scoring seven runs with six runs batted in (RBI). She finished the week with an .875 batting average.

The honors didn't just stop at the plate as Thomas put on a dominating pitching performance in both games of the doubleheader. She held the Falcons to just one run in the doubleheader. She recorded 19 strikeouts, including striking out 11 in a shutout win. She finished the week with a 0.70 earned run average (ERA).

The Lady Panthers will return home for their next action as the team will host the Livingstone College Blue Bears on Saturday before hosting the Johnson C. Smith Lady Golden Bulls on Saturday. *Lady Tigers Have Strong Performances At N.C. A&T Aggie Invitational*

The Benedict College women's track and field team competed at the North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitational on Saturday, and Jane Kiborus broke the school record in the 3,000-meter steeple chase.
Kiborus ran a time of 12:02.82 to win the event, beating out a pair of Division I competitors. She is ranked No. 1 in the SIAC. Jada David jumped a personal best in the triple jump with a jump of 11.92 meters (39 feet, 1 inch). She finished second overall against some high-powered Division I competition. Savionna Glover finished third in the long jump with a jump of 5.60 meters (18 feet, 4 inches).

*Benedict Tigers Win SIAC Men And Women Tennis Title*

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The Benedict College Tigers won their sixth consecutive SIAC Men's Tennis Championship with a 4-3 victory over Spring Hill College on Sunday at the Peachtree Tennis Center.
With the match tied at 3-3, Killian Surmont clinched the match for the Tigers with a 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles over Spring Hill's Rafael Lima.

Spring Hill took the early lead by winning the doubles point after winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Mark Chigaazira knocked off Fergus O'Rourke, the SIAC Player of the Year, 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Divgurjot Singh took a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 4 singles, and Jason Chigaazira took a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles.

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The Benedict College Lady Tigers won five of six singles matches to defeat Savannah State 5-2 and win the 2022 SIAC Women's Tennis Championship on Sunday at the Peachtree Tennis Center.
Savannah State won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Esperance Follykoue defeated Gabrielle Benn, the SIAC Player of the Year, at No. 1 singles when Benn had to retire due to injury. Patricia Wamba took a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 2, and Karina Izakova won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3. Sofia Gomez cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4, and Gabriela Zelaya won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.
