Bellamy’s Three Wins Highlights Day 2 Of Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Saturday was the final day of action at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational for the Coastal Carolina men's and women's track & field teams, as several individuals recorded top-15 finishes during their respective events.

As a team, the Chanticleers' women's team finished first on the team scoreboard with a total of 36 points, scoring 20 more points than the runner-up in Alcorn State with 16 points.
The CCU men's team placed in a tie for first-place overall with 20 team points, matching Tiffin for first-place team honors.
On the women's side, Shani'a Bellamy excelled, claiming the top spot in three different events. She crossed the line first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.42, won the 100-meter hurdles event in 13.52 seconds, and earned the top spot on the podium with a time of 23.53 seconds in the 200-meter event finishing 1, 2, 3 along with Kayla Sweeney (23.89) and Mekenze Kelley (24.08).
Also, in the 100-meter event, three other Chanticleers tallied a top-10 finish, as Sweeney (11.58) finished second, Mariah McCord (11.94) tallied a sixth-place finish, and Zahria Jones (11.96) notched a seventh-place finish. Jones (24.80) also placed fifth in the 200-meters, six spots in front of Amelia Canetto (25.41) and her 12th-place finish.
Jermaisha Arnold earned first-place honors in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.02, while Nya McGowan finished 11th in the finals heat with a time of 1:00.30. Smith and Lauren Gordon each added a top-12 finish in the 400-meter hurdles, where Alyssa Smith (1:07.80) crossed the line seventh and Gordon (1:09.35) in 11th overall. Alyssa Smith (15.04) also brought home a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdle event.
Meagan Moreno earned a sixth-place showing in the mile run with a time of 5:11.43, while Amilia Wise-Sweat finished seventh in the 3000-meter event with a finals time of 11:15.79. In the 3000-meter steeplechase, fellow freshman Ashley Dalleske crossed the finish line in eighth with her time of 13:17.47.
In the women's high jump high bar, Camryn Lorick and Kadasia Evans each tallied a placement in the top six. Lorick's leap of 1.63 meters put her in fourth, while Evans finished in a tie for sixth with her best mark of 1.58 meters on the day. Evans also placed 20th overall in the women's triple jump event with a distance of 10.21 meters.
To close out the field events, Alexis Estep's throw of 13.30 meters helped earn her a fifth-place finish in the shot put, while Lauralyn Clifford finished 10th with a toss of 12.21 meters.
Five relay teams earned top 10 finishes as well. The 4x100-meter relay team finished first (45.91), 4 x 200 finished second (1:39.49), and the 4 x 800 made the podium with a third-place finish (9:45.27). The 4 x 400 teams finished in second (3:50.94) and seventh place (4:05.60), respectively.
On the men's side, Tyler Graves made it to the line first in the 110-meter hurdles in 13.78 seconds, while Jaquon Williams finished in sixth place with a finals time of 14.34. In the 100-meter dash finals, CCU scored another win, this time from Garrett Wilkins and his time of 10.38, while Reggie Barlow crossed the finish line in third overall with his time of 10.57
Four Chants finished in the top-11 during the 200-meter dash, as Jeremiah Talbert (21.742) led the way with a second-place finish. Devonte Harris (21.748) finished fourth, Keshon Sapp (22.06) placed ninth, and Graves (22.20) added an 11th place finish.
Robert Johnson and Isaiah Thomas finished 10th and 11th in the 400-meter dash with times of 50.27 and 50.60, respectively, while in the 800-meters, Gage Nielsen finished 14th overall with a time of 2:00.90. In the 3000-meter event, Garrett Bivens (8:38.25) tallied a third-place finish, while Ethan Blackwelder (9:29.46) finished in 15th and Kaden Buchler (9:30.75) in 16th, respectively.
Picking up a fourth-place finish in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase was freshman Tomas Duncan with a time of 10:29.87.
In the men's high jump high bar, Jens Rueckert Jr. leaped to a third-place finish with a mark of 1.98 meters, while Cole Castro notched a 13th place finish with his mark of 1.83 meters. Albrey Gossett brought home a fourth-place finish in the men's high jump low bar event with a leap of 1.83 meters.
In the men's hammer discus throw, CCU's Major Chestnut placed ninth overall with a distance of 42.66 meters, while teammate Michael Martello finished in 13th with a mark of 40.94 meters. In the men's shot put event, Aaron Pierce picked up a 13th place showing with a throw of 13.22 meters, placing four spots ahead of Coastal's Steve Kirkwood (12.88 meters) who placed 17th overall.
Three relay teams earned a top-10 finish in their respective events, as the 4x100-meter team (40.96) finished second. CCU also added a second (3:15.94) and ninth place (3:30.80) finish in the 4x400-meter relay event.

The Chanticleers will return to competition next weekend, as CCU will participate in the highly-touted Weems Baskin meet on March 25-26 in Columbia, S.C.
