Obituary for William “Chip” Wood III
William Wood, III of Timmonsville, SC began life's journey on December 29, 1983. He was the son of the late Elder William Wood, Jr and Pastor Katie G. Wood. William, affectionately known as "Chip", departed this life on Sunday, January 23, 2022.
Chip received his formal education in the public schools of Timmonsville, SC. He furthered his education at Benedict College where he graduated in 2009, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Development with a concentration in Childcare Administration. Throughout his early care and education years, Chip obtained various certifications that enhanced his ability to do what he loved most; working with children, families, and staff. Chip was a leader by nature which afforded him the opportunity to exhibit his talents not only internally, but externally through outreach, marketing and community engagement. Chip excelled in every position held.
Chip was a lifelong member of Mt. Calvary Apostolic Church where he was dedicated to the work of Lord. Chip always loved church and would show great excitement in attending the services. He was baptized in Jesus' name at an early age and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. He faithfully served in many capacities. He served as church drummer and also served as an usher from his youth. He held the office of praise and worship leader for many years and he had a gift of singing that helped to bring much joy to others. He accepted the call of God to minister the Gospel of Christ in 2015 and preached his initial sermon August 9th of that same year.
Minister Wood loved and was loved by many. He impacted the lives of everyone that he came in contact with from various walks of life. He loved to talk and was never a stranger to anyone. Even as a child, he would converse with his elders with maturity. Minister Wood was not just a talker but believed in getting things done. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Minister Wood was preceded in death by his father, Elder William Wood, Jr and maternal grandparents, Doris "Jack" and Katie Jackson Green and paternal grandparents, William and Janie Bryant Wood; three uncles, Randolph Green, Willie J. Green, and Rudolph McQueen.
Left to cherish his precious memories are: his mother, Pastor Katie G. Wood of Timmonsville, SC; siblings, Doris(Tyrone) Davis of Timmonsville, SC, Dr. Cedric B. Wood of Columbia, SC, Tiffany K. Wood of Florence, SC, Carlos Hughee of Atlanta, Ga; nieces and nephews, Anthony, Courtney, Kaylee, Brittany, Quentin, Kenley; aunts and uncles, Janie Goodman of Florence, SC, Albert Green of Timmonsville, SC, Isaiah(Lois) Green of Timmonsville,SC, Isaac(Evita) McQueen of Columbia, SC, James(Roxanne)Wood, Jersey City, NJ, Sammie(Ivory)Green of Florence, SC, Rondell(Diane)Green of Timmonsville, SC, one great aunt, Dorothy Green of Newark, NJ; numerous cousins and a host other family and friends.
Obituary for Ervin Ira Legette
Brother Ervin Ira Legette was 60, and departed this life Thursday January 27, 2022 in Marion County. He was the father of Lakeshia Legette Jones. Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic the family welcomes you to do a drop off visitation, they ask for your continued prayers, calls.

Funeral services scheduled to be held at the Jackson & McGill Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in St. James AME Church Cemetery. Services will be live-streamed on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page.

While the Legette family would love to be surrounded by your presence, they acknowledge the health risks to family, church members, friends, and particularly to those who are most vulnerable to this disease, the elderly and those with chronic health conditions. Obituary for James Anthony Wilson
James Anthony Wilson was born in Florence, SC to Lynwood Wilson and Joyce Baker Wilson. He departed his earthly life on January 23, 2022, after an illness.
Anthony “Big Cheese” was a lover of the Green Bay Packers as well as passionate about cooking various dishes. He loved the Lord and was a deacon at Church United in Hartsville, SC under the leadership of Pastor Derek Davis. Anthony was a caring person and enjoyed spending time with his family. His smile was joyous, and he tried to give encouragement to others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynwood Wilson and Joyce Baker Wilson, and his brother-in-law, Leon Johnson.
Left to cherish his memories includes his children’s mom Angela Turner; Two children: Kenny and Alexis Turner; Siblings: Shermin (Hazle) Wilson, Preston Wilson, Larone Wilson, Tiffany (Leon) Johnson, and Evonda (Eric) Moses; Nieces and nephews: Mykalia Wilson, Jaleah Wilson, Gabrielle Wilson, Colin Williamson, and Treyvon Leondra Johnson; A special friend; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Obituary for Mary L. Kelly
Mary Louise Kelly was born May 5th, 1939 to Columbus Ratley and Annie Geneva (Sam)Young in Poston SC. On Monday, January 24th, 2022 the Lord called her from labor to rest. In 1956 she was joined in Holy Matrimony to David Fleming. To this union, 4 children were born. Her son Perry preceded her in death At an early age she accepted Christ and became a member of Heyward Chapel AME Church in Poston, SC, where she held the position as a secretary during her teen years, where she also sang in the choir. After becoming an adult she became a member of Majority Baptist Church under Dr. OE Jackson and Southern Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. John McKenney. Although she enjoyed her worship in the Baptist church, she felt that something was missing, and she returned to the AME church. She joined Mt. Zion AME Church under the leadership of Rev. L. B. Burgess, Bishop McAllister, and her present Pastor, Rev. Merritt B. Graves. She was a member of The Witherspoon-McAllister Women Missionary Society, The Stewardess Board #1, and the Lay Organization. She was the Past President of the Florence County Federation of Licensed Practical Nursing Association. She loved to sing and under the leadership of Rev. Burgess started the Gospel Choir. She was also a member of several Gospel groups in town, including the Braxton Singers, Voices of Hope, and the Gospel Tribulations. Ms. Kelly attended the public schools of Florence County and graduated from Wilson High School class of 1956. In 1965 she entered into nursing school at the McLeod School of Nursing, where she graduated in June of 1967 as a Practical Nurse. In September of 1967, she became licensed after passing her state board exam. She worked at McLeod hospital for many years, as well as several of the area nursing homes. She had a vision of opening a Residential Care facility, and in August 1979 that vision came to life when she opened the first Kelly’s Community Home. By the time she retired in 1995, there were 5 facilities open. Ms. Kelly loved life challenges, and in 2000 she moved to Chesapeake, Virginia. She became very active in her community and enjoyed her new adventures. In 2006 while feeling a little homesick she returned to Florence, SC. She had many different hobbies, apart from singing she loved needlepoint, crochet and she was an avid reader. She was a natural leader. .Ms. Kelly was preceded in death by her son Perry, her parents, and her husbands David Fleming and Fred Kelly. Left to cherish her fond memory are her 3 daughters: Rev. Peggy (Dr. John) McKenney, Karen (Bernard) Owens, Teresa (Bruce) Redden; 7 grandchildren: Bambi, Kellye, Ginnye, Yolanda, Perry( Naketia), Mari Katherine(Alahn), Timothy(Chasity), LeAndra Renee; 18 great-grands; 2 special cousins: Henry L. Davis and James Goldwire. A very special best friend Mrs. Pauline K. Cook whom she has been friends with for more than 80 years. Her family would like to especially thank Carmilla’s Home Care Services and her personal caregivers, Lakeshia Anderson and Mary Ladach, Ms. Sandra Williams, a long-time personal caregiver as well as Ms. Dollie Coulter for taking mom to and from appointments. A special thank you to Dr. Gregory May for 16 years of special care.

Obituary for Shirley Ann Sanders
Sister Shirley Ann Sanders was born to the late Frances Sanders and Sam Lewis on November 24, 1957, in Darlington, South Carolina. As a child, she was loved in school and enjoyed attending church services. Shirley took her eternal rest with Christ on January 21, 2022, at age 64.
She was educated in Darlington County School District, graduating from Rosenwald High School in 1975. At an early age she joined the Bethesda Baptist Church and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Later, she became a member of the Life Changing Word Ministry under the leadership of Elder James Sanders, where she was Baptized in the name of Jesus and received the Holy Spirit.
Sister Shirley Ann loved cooking for her family, friends, and community and was a Dedicated Dallas Cowboy fan. She was employed at Coker College as a cook. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.
Those preceding her in death are her mother, Frances Sanders; grandmother, Pearlie (Leo) Cotton; and two brothers, Rufus Sanders and Thomas Sanders.
She is survived by three sisters, Pearlie (Johnny) Ware of Sanford, North Carolina, Jacqueline McClain of Hartsville, South Carolina and Valerie Graham of Sanford, North Carolina; two brothers, Elder James (Shirley) Sanders and Guy Kevin Harris, Sr of Darlington, South Carolina; three sisters-in-law, Diane Sanders of Richmond, Virginia, Linda Jackson of Darlington, South Carolina, and Ingrid Jackson of Bennettsville, South Carolina; a godson, Jordan McClain: a special friend, Martin Luther King; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
