As greater appreciation for beauty across all cultures is growing, a local owner of a multi-cultural hair salon is working to showcase diversity in the haircare industry. Tia Brannon opened Carolina Hair Studios in 2012.
Carolina Hair Studios is one of the few multicultural hair salons in the area, offering services for all types and textures of hair for both males and females.

According to Brannon, the salon, located in downtown Columbia, has clients of all ages, races, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. “It is a place where everyone can come for their haircare needs, whether it’s cuts, braids, weaves, locks or colors,” said Brannon.

Carolina Hair Studios is classified as a one stop shop. In addition to haircare, the salon offers manicures, pedicures and a makeup artist. Tia stated that she opened her business in order to assist the city’s multicultural community with the hassle of traveling all over the city making multiple appointments for their beauty needs.
The salon, located at 1537 Main street, currently has four stylists, and an artist who does make up and lashes. Ms. Brannon is currently looking to hire a certified nail technician. Her hours of operation are Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm.
